Volunteering

VOLUNTEERING AT THE CENTRE

The Madeley Centre is a self-funding charity. The charity owns the Madeley Centre and has to raise all running and maintenance costs. Our income comes from hiring out rooms and from events we organise for the community. In order to function at low cost we depend heavily on the contributions made by volunteers to help with the day-to-day work of the Centre. We are always of the lookout for volunteers who are willing to help in a variety of ways, including:

  • In the office (we need one or two helpers with office skills)
  • On reception (providing information about the Centre, supporting users and selling tickets)
  • In the New2U Charity shop (this raises substantial sums for the Centre)
  • Music and other Events (selling tickets on the door, acting as ushers and providing general support)
  • Marshalling for big events and First Aid
  • Helping in the Computer Learning Centre
  • Fundraising (by selling raffle tickets and helping with other fund-raisers)
  • Gardening (We need green fingered volunteers who will maintain the flowers in the courtyard and around the Centre and make the place attractive for users and for wedding photos)
